Mustapha Farrakhan Jr.

Mustapha Farrakhan Jr., also known as Li'l Mu, is an American basketball player. He is currently a guard for the Bakersfield Jam.[1][2]

Early life

Mustapha Farrakhan Jr. was born in Harvey, Illinois on November 2, 1988.[3] He attended Thornton Township High School.[4] During college, he played basketball for the Virginia Cavaliers.[5] During his last season with the University of Virginia, Farrakhan averaged 13.5 points and 2.8 rebounds per game.[6] Farrakhan majored in Sociology.[7] Farrakhan is a practicing Muslim.[8]

Family

Farrakhan is a grandson of Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan and Khadijah Farrakhan.[9] His father, Mustapha Farrakhan, is a police officer and the Supreme Captain of the Nation of Islam.[10][11] His aunt, Donna Farrakhan Muhammad, the second woman to ever become a minister in the Nation of Islam, is the former Sister Captain of the Muslim Girls Training (MGT).[12]

NBA Development League career

During October of 2011, Farrakhan was a first round draft pick for the NBA Development League.[13] Farrakhan was the 13th overall pick of the 2011 draft.[14] He was chosen by the Bakersfield Jam.[15]
